Coach Grzegorz Niski became the head coach of the first team in 2021, but he has always been involved in volleyball. He is a former volleyball player and coach. Until 2014, he was one of the leading players for IBB Polonia, playing as a setter. Afterward, for several seasons, he ran junior’s training sessions organized under the club’s patronage. He returned to IBB Polonia in September 2021 to run sessions at the academy in the absence of the coaches who were attending a training camp in Bełchatów at the time. He quickly adapted to his role, and the youth connected very well with him. Not long after, he took over the reins of the first team. In the 2022/2023 season, the team finished third, and the following year, IBB Polonia London volleyball players won the silver medal at the English Championships. Additionally, Grzegorz Niski continues to work with youth, running the Pro Volley Academy and the IBB Polonia London Junior Academy.
“I started my journey with IBB Polonia London many years ago, and since then, I’ve always stayed close to the club. Even when I stopped playing about eight years ago, I tried to help my beloved team. I’m very happy to be part of IBB Polonia again and to actively participate in its development. Everything happened so fast. I first started working at Pro Volley Academy as a substitute, and in 2021, I became the head coach of the senior team. I knew the first year in this new role would be very challenging, but I enjoy such challenges. The owner of IBB Polonia and the board decided to change the system for managing the first team. I’m glad to be part of a team that is growing, investing in youth, and promoting volleyball in London and throughout the UK,” said Grzegorz Niski, the new head coach of IBB Polonia London.
