IBB Polonia London Takes on Super League Leaders Malory Eagles

2025-01-18

Today, IBB Polonia London faced the Super League table leaders, Malory Eagles, in an away match. This was the second meeting between the two teams this season, and unfortunately, it marked the second victory for the side led by Jefferson Williams and Ian Legrand.

Head coach Bartosz Kisielewicz started with Pearson Stiller as setter, Dahmane Bentiti as opposite, Ryan Dickson and Filip Denchev as outside hitters, Vaidas Audickas and Olafs Matjusenoks as middle blockers, and George Ivanov and Filipi Rodrigues sharing libero duties.

The match began positively for IBB Polonia London. Dahmane Bentiti led the charge, and the team maintained control from the start of the first set. Polonia’s strong and intelligent play at the net—both in attack and blocking—secured them a 25-20 victory in the opening set.

The second set followed a similar pattern, but this time, Malory Eagles managed to maintain a slight advantage throughout. Despite a valiant effort from Polonia, the home team claimed the set 25-18.

In the third set, Malory Eagles started strong, taking an early 7-3 lead thanks to effective serving that challenged Polonia’s reception and attacking efficiency. Coach Kisielewicz made some adjustments, bringing Ian Chau onto the court. Chau made an immediate impact with strong serves, allowing Polonia to reduce the deficit. The set remained tight until the final points, but Malory edged it out 25-23.

The fourth set proved challenging for Polonia. Malory Eagles played with precision and confidence, dominating the set 25-13 to close the match.

Despite the loss, Polonia showed moments of brilliance and determination throughout the game. Head coach Bartosz Kisielewicz reflected on the team’s performance, stating:

“We had good moments today. We need to remember them. Ahead of us is another match, another challenge. We will fight for the best possible result. We are aware that this season is not the easiest, which is why the support of our fans—through thick and thin—means so much to us.”

Polonia will have an opportunity to bounce back tomorrow when they face Richmond Docklands at Northolt High School. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
