Excellent news: Greg Niski will continue his work as Head Coach at IBB Polonia London.
Until 2014, Niski was a key player at the London based club. Following his playing retirement, he focussed his attentions on developing the volleyball abilities of young players. In 2021 he returned to IBB Polonia London to help develop the Academy volleyball and very quickly he developed an excellent relationship with the young athletes and soon the results became evidence of those relationships.
Soon after this he became the Head Coach for the men’s team IBB Polonia London. This was a big challenge especially because after a number of years of dominance, The Club had formed its team from young players who were just starting out in their senior careers. The 2021/22 season saw The Club end in fifth position in the Superleague. In the Under 18 championships the Academy players ended with a silver medal; it was a great season for both Niski and The Club.
2022/23 was even better with the men’s team finishing in 3rd place, a semi-final in the National Cup and yet another silver medal for the under 18 squad.
For Niski, the upcoming season will see him running the ProVolley Academy once again. On top of this IBB Polonia London has opened a younger category of academy aimed at 12-16 year olds which will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays at Northolt High School.
I have been a part of The Club for many years. First I was a player and then moved to training youngsters. I have watched the evolution of The Club, not only from a sport perspective, but also organisationally. Each season there are new exciting goals. We aim to build a strong team from our young players and to continue to develop them year by year. I am happy and proud that I am part of this team – concluded Niski.
