In their second game of the 2024/2025 Super League season, IBB Polonia London faced a disappointing 0-3 defeat against the league’s newest team, London Giants. Despite the match taking place in London, this was technically an away game for Greg Niski’s squad, who started strong but ultimately struggled to maintain their momentum.
The opening set showcased fierce competition and was undoubtedly the highlight of the match. IBB Polonia London played with determination, matching the Giants point for point. The set extended to a nail-biting 27-25 finish, with London Giants eventually clinching the win.
Following the intense first set, IBB Polonia London struggled with errors in the second and third sets, which cost them valuable points and opened the door for London Giants to dominate. The match concluded with a 3-0 scoreline (27:25, 25:19, 25:11), marking a memorable win for the Giants and an opportunity for Niski’s team to regroup for their next challenge.
Reflecting on the game, Greg Niski said: “It’s not the best start to the season, as this is our second loss in a row. We need some time to grow as a team, but I believe in this group. The season is long, and there will be more and more chances to prove ourselves in the league. We have a long break right now, so there will be time to focus on our mistakes and prepare for the games to come.”
IBB Polonia London’s next match is set for 17th November, when they’ll travel to face the Newcastle Knights. The following weekend, they’ll return to London to take on Malory Eagles in an exciting clash. Fans can also look forward to the first Super League live event on Sunday, 24th November, with four London teams competing head-to-head, promising an action-packed day for volleyball supporters.
