The first half of the year was filled with promise, even as the team faced disappointment in the National Cup. In a nail-biting five-set encounter against Essex Rebels, Polonia showed remarkable grit and determination but ultimately fell short, losing 3-2. Despite the defeat, their performance demonstrated the team’s resilience and gave fans hope for a successful Super League campaign.
Super League Highlights
Polonia shone brightly in the Super League, reaching the Final Four in Kettering. In the semi-finals, they secured a hard-fought victory over Essex Rebels, with standout performances from players like Diego Tamburni, Mihail Stoev, and George Ivanov. However, the final proved a tougher challenge, with Polonia falling 3-1 to reigning champions Durham Palatinates. The team earned a well-deserved second-place finish, with both Tamburni and Stoev named in the Team of the Season.
Off-Court Progress
The off-season brought significant developments for the club. Tomasz Koprowski joined as Business Development Director, while Sally Fox-Price was appointed Commercial Director. Their wealth of experience promises to drive the club forward, helping to grow volleyball’s popularity in England and strengthen Polonia’s position on and off the court.
Turning the Tide in 2024/25
The start of the 2024/25 season was challenging, with struggles in securing key signings and early results. However, December marked a turning point as Polonia secured their first win of the season in a thrilling five-set match against Richmond Docklands. This hard-earned victory not only provided much-needed points but also restored belief and momentum. Vaidas Audickas shone as the match MVP, and Dahmane Benetiti’s consistent contributions proved crucial to the team’s success.
