IBB Polonia London continue winning ways against local rivals Richmond Docklands, despite a shakey start and being 0-2 down.
The first two sets were not up to the usual high standards of IBB Polonia London. The hosts blocked solidly and Niski’s players struggled to kill enough balls. Fans of both teams gathered in Kingston Arena and witnessed some spectacular volleyball on both sides of the net that brought passion and excitement. Niski tried to change the rhythm of the game in both opening sets and made substitutions to try to impact the game, but to no avail.
Losing 0-2, the players of IBB Polonia London were facing the first defeat of the season, but they never gave up and slowly battled their way back into the match. The third set was quite the turnaround, especially from the service line and stunning defence from libero Filipi Rodrigues. The middle blockers were back to their rock solid wall of hands and Dahmane Bentiti who came on as substitute showing that he is amongst the best opposites in the country. With fervent support from the Official Fan Club the Londoners tied the match 2-2. The fifth set was over quickly thanks to Mihail Stoev killing multiple balls from front and back court.
It is a point lost, but IBB Polonia London still lead the title race. The next super League match is Sunday 26th November at home to Malory Eagles at 3.30pm. Come and help us carry on winning!
